As the local Silicon Valley economy expands at an astonishing rate, experts say the successful growth will never abate.
As Arshey Shuantey relaxes in an outside jacuzzi near his 5 bedroom, three story 3,700 sq ft house in Menlo Park, he eyes me with a look of almost apology. "The revolving marble wet bar was supposed to be in last week, but the contractors were so busy with orders, I got pushed back 2 weeks." When Arshey offered the contractors another $5,000 to "see if they could re-arrange the schedule." the contracting company didn't even blink. 2 weeks was the best they could do.
The good times keep rolling: No end
is in site for prosperous venture capital
fueled economy.
Arshey is relaxing, smug and full of the self satisfaction that we all share, knowing full and well that this booming, speculative period of incredible growth and prosperity will not only never end, but never slow. "It's inconceivable that the stream of billions of dollars flowing into the local economy because of the internet industry will ever slow. If anything, it will grow faster and faster, until all of the money in the entire world will be in the Bay Area."
Arshey isn't alone in his beliefs, and he's not just looking through cash-colored glasses. Most local economic experts believe that this boom has just begun. "It makes perfect sense that a kid who learned HTML from a high school class is worth more than teachers, attorneys , and doctors." said one economics professor. "It's because the Internet is such a high-tech, in demand field. No one cares at all if you have a doctorate in astrophysics. Can you make cool spinning animated .gifs? That's what it's all about."
"I love being able to go back home to Chicago, and brag about how much money I, and everyone in the Bay Area makes." admitted one valley type. "When they show me their whatever-the-heck-they're using-for-a-computer, I like to point at it and say: "My friends invented that... 10 *years* ago."
Bay Area residents can rest assured, that as long as the Internet is the hot flavor of the month on Wall Street, and it will be, forever, that this money choked lifestyle we're all enjoying will never end.
